ALDAcon is the annual convention for the Association of Late Deafened Adults. The event is hosted by the national organization, ALDA Inc.
The convention lasts several days and takes place in a new location in the United States each year. Activities include inspirational speakers, informative workshops, social events/outings and the traditional Saturday night karaoke party.
Scholarship funds, aptly named for the late Bob Janssen, are available to defray costs for attendees who are unable to attend without financial aid. Applicants must be a member of ALDA Chicago and have a hearing loss or unable to understand spoken language. Preference is given to those who have never attended an ALDAcon nor received an ALDAcon scholarship, in that order.
Applications can be submitted beginning in February of a given ALDAcon year (e.g., February 2024 for ALDAcon 2024). The deadline to apply is June 16th (11:59 PM on June 16th).
